Olesia was immediately responsive when I reached out to her telling her my labor was starting, despite the late night hours. She was calm and incredibly helpful and supportive over the phone and arrived at my house shortly thereafter where she was both physically and emotionally supportive. She always helped my husband remain calm and put together a plan for getting to the hospital. This was not an easy task as this was both my husband and my first experience with labor and both of us were feeling stressed and in need of her guidance. I arrived at the hospital fully dilated and the medical staff seemed a bit frantic, which began to stress me out. Olesia was there to calm me down and seamlessly assist in communications between the medical staff and me. She advocated for me every step of the way and ensured I understood everything that was happening. Olesia checked in on me regularly following the birth and came to my home a few days later when I let her know I was ready. She arrived with homemade snacks which were prepared with my specific allergies in mind. She was so calm and caring during such an emotional time for me. I also was dealing with a very painful engorgement and was feeling very miserable. She was able to give me techniques to ease the discomfort and helped me set up and use my pump so that I could relieve the engorgement. The relief I felt after her assistance with this is indescribable. She was truly a miracle to me that day as she was throughout our entire interaction throughout my pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I honestly cannot imagine going through pregnancy, birth and postpartum without Olesia. She is clearly so passionate about what she does, and it shows in how thoughtful, caring and thorough she is. I never felt rushed with her; she answered all my questions so thoroughly and completely and made me feel so validated and cared for every step of the way. My husband also expressed his deep appreciation for her and all of her support and expressed he cannot imagine having gone through that without her either! She is such a special person and never ceased to amaze me with her patience and genuine care throughout my entire time working with her.

From the moment we met, Olesia exuded warmth, empathy, and a good understanding of newborn care. She was available to answer my questions, alleviate my concerns, and offer practical advice. Her calm and reassuring presence was a constant source of comfort. She was able to present a good understanding of my newborn and assure me that the baby was presenting normally, by sharing her own experience with her newborn son. Olesia provided postnatal care that was thoughtful and compassionate. While her focus was newborn care, she also provided some assistance with breastfeeding. Even though I ended up not choosing to breastfeed, it was good to try that option and Olesia encouraged me to do so.

I often write about soulmates who enter our lives at the moment we need them most. Some are able to recognize them, while others are not. Some see them as messengers from heaven, and others - as a chance encounter. I deeply believe that everything happening to us at any given moment belongs to us. Only those who doubt the majesty and power of the Creator might question that truth. Just a few days ago, I gave life to a new human being. On that fateful day, I experienced the most profound, consciousness-shifting moment I couldn’t even imagine. Life unfolded that this time, my beloved husband was not by my side during the birth itself - he stayed home caring for our eldest daughter, where I passed through the bulk of my second birth story. Yet even later, when it came time to leave home, I was not alone. With me was Olesia Matveeva—my tender and caring doula - who joined me for my most intimate moment: meeting my child for the first time. Light as a translucent shawl, she appeared precisely when needed, gracefully stepping back when space was required. We communicated mostly through glances, and every unspoken request was received with deep sensitivity - responded to without hesitation. Gently and lovingly, eyes locked and hands held tight, we moved through the cosmic pain of womanhood together, only to meet the final stretch with tears and gratitude as we shared the euphoria of birth. Surely, I’ll never find the right words to describe my experience - because such words have not yet been invented. But I know this with certainty: God sent me the one I had been waiting for throughout my second pregnancy. I love her and thank her with every fiber of my maternal soul. This is the strength of our womanhood: an unquenchable thirst to nurture, to hold, to mother, to love - to become eternity in a fleeting moment. May each of you discover the most wondrous realm given only to us - motherhood and unconditional love. Love and be loved by those who are worthy of you.
