FAQ about Ayurvedic postpartum care
1. What is Ayurvedic postpartum care and how is it different from a regular postpartum doula service?
While all doula care is deeply supportive, Ayurvedic postpartum care honors the postpartum window as a sacred time for deep healing, rebalancing doshas, warmth and restoration. This care includes nourishing meals, herbal therapies, gentle rituals, and lifestyle guidance rooted in Ayurvedic wisdom.
2. What kinds of meals do you prepare?
I prepare easily digestible, grounding meals, such as kitchari, congee, herbal teas, ghee- rich porridges, stewed fruits and veggies, nourishing soups and golden milk elixirs. These meals calm Vata (the mobile dosha heightened by birth) and offer deep nourishment for body and soul.
3. What rituals are included in ayurvedic postpartum care?
It is customized care with individual postpartum plan. Offerings may include herbal sitz baths and steams, warm oil therapy, belly binding, closing of the bones and others.
4. When should I book your services?
I recommend booking my services during pregnancy, ideally in the second or third trimester. Early booking ensures availability and allows time for customizing your postpartum plan, including herbs, meals, and rituals unique to your journey.
